The New York Knicks and Mikal Bridges have agreed to a contract extension valued at 4 years - 150 million dollars, according to ESPN. Nearly a year following the trade that involved sending five first-round picks to the Brooklyn Nets, the Knicks have secured their reliable wing defender for years to come.
Mikal Bridges' inaugural season with the Knicks was a roller coaster, featuring both highs and lows, though the highs prevailed. It was during the playoffs that he truly demonstrated his worth.
Whether it was the fourth quarter against the Pistons, guiding the Knicks to an essential Game 3 win, the pivotal tip-back in Game 6 with timely fourth-quarter scores, or the successive key defensive plays in Boston that ensured the Knicks' victories in Game 1 and Game 2, Mikal Bridges proved his true value when it counted the most.
Considering that, along with his interactions with former Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau regarding playing time, it's clear that Bridges has potential for growth with this core group.
Mitchell Robinson and Karl-Anthony Towns are also up for extensions.
