Yudai Baba Signs with the Knicks Summer league team

The New York Knicks have officially signed Japanese guard Yudai Baba to their 2025 Summer League team, which tips off on July 11 against the Detroit Pistons in Las Vegas. Baba—nicknamed “Tokyo Drift”—brings a dynamic blend of long‑range shooting and high‑energy athleticism to the Knicks’ bench unit.


A 6′5″, 198‑lb guard, Baba has built an impressive international résumé: starring in Japan’s B‑League (earning two championships and Final MVP honors), capturing an NBL title in Australia, and representing Japan at multiple FIBA World Cups and the Olympics. He’s also seen time in the NBA G‑League, most recently with the Texas Legends, where he averaged near 12 points per game and shot over 40 % from deep


Knicks fans and analysts are eager to find out if Baba’s trademark “Baba Boom” dunks and occasional precise shooting will be effective on the Las Vegas court.
